And it aint Bob Marley...

Hooray for Zombieland!!! It was a lovely refreshing take on a tired and overused horror device. The good news is that the writers have a go ahead for a sequel. More good news is that originally they planned on making it a tv series and so have "a wealth of material" at their disposal. After a sequel news is that a series is still very much on the cards. This twinned with the fact that Frank Darabont is still rumored to be directing "The Walking Dead" comic book franchise also as a series can only point out the obvious. Zombies just will not lay down and die...

Nothing to do with us...

Doghouse, the latest film by director Jake West sees a desperate group of men fighting off hordes of undead female, zombie mutants. No they are not in Lakeside shopping center, they are in a small and rather remote town that no-one has ever heard of where nearby naughty military types have been creating a virus that only affects women (HOORAY!!!) by turning them into man hating, flesh eating zombie ladies (BOOO!!). I am holding judgment as I have not yet had a chance (been bothered) to go and see it yet. However one review that I read in a newspaper that shall remain un-named had this to say "Danny Dyer and crew try desperately to roll this turd in glitter...and fail miserably". Sounds good.

On Your Marks...

I think many of us can be certain that in some dribbly lager-fueled pub session there's been a 'Wouldn't it be cool if someone made a Big Brother horror film?' style topic mooted at the table. Well, I know most of the Doghouser's have barked about that idea at some point, and now writer Charlie Brooker has written a 6 part series for E4 on the very same subject entitled 'Dead Set'. I like the idea of a BB horror house, but the trailer doesn't inspire me with confidence on the originality front. Can horror ever be truly original? How many takes on virus ridden zombies can our screens take? Despite those issues, I'm certainly pleased to see horror on the small screen, and Brooker says himself that Dead Set "could not be described as a comedy". So it's serious then.

Well, I'm going to reserve judgment for now - there's plenty of room for original twists that the trailer is not revealing yet. However, Dead Set certainly does look like a lot of fun. Here's the trailer.

Zombie-Nazi's...

You don't get a better combination as far as I'm concerned. I can't wait for this one. Its Richard Raaphorst's Worst Case Scenario, and it looks amazing. There's a couple of trailers for this one. The first and the second.
