Missing the point..?

Interesting review of Cameron's Avatar, from the race angle...

Check it out here.

The comments are good too - if you make it that far. I think the point the author is missing is that James Cameron is white - and as he wrote and directed Avatar, then it's gonna be from his pespective - if he want's a non white perspective he should check out some Asian or African sci-fi...

Busy Pegg...

Hey Doghousers!

As I was cycling past the house used for the exterior shots in 'Spaced' (bit of casual famous landmark dropping there), it made me wonder what one of my favourite funny men was up to these days. Simon Pegg almost played it straight as Scotty in Star Trek, but I want more funnies.

Well next year is set to see the release of 'Paul' a comedy about two sci-fi geeks who embark upon a pilgrimage in a RV to the center of America's UFO heartland: Nevada's infamous Area 51. It's been penned by Pegg and Nick Frost, but Edgar Wright is not at the helm this time, it's a chap called Greg Mottola of Superbad notoriety.

I've no clues as to the comedic quality of the film as yet, but it has quite a cute blog site with some videos watching the progress of filming and some videos that just show those crazy cats larking about. Warning: may make you wish you worked on a film set. Why did I choose graphic design as a profession?

**And it's worth noting that for those of you who are awaiting the third and final installment of the 'Blood & Ice Cream Trilogy', Wright and Pegg are back together next year for 'The World’s End'.

I'm at picture lock! Now what?

Hello Doghousers!

Just thought I'd swing by to let you know about a fairly new blog that's started up which is all about Digital Intermediate (DI) and film making - it's un-catchily titled "I'm at picture lock! Now what?". I guess that's an in-joke.

It's a blog for film makers which in the author Leandro Marini's own words is described as "an attempt to create a place where we can have spirited discussions about the amazing times we are living through in the film industry, especially with regard to digital cinema."

This blog will undoubtedly bore you senseless if you are not interested in the technology surrounding post-production. However, I think this will be a very interesting blog and a good way to keep up with new and emerging technologies in the post business. And it makes me look like I know what I'm talking about whenever someone mentions the RED camera ;)

Haven't we come along way. Don't answer that.
But seriously, thanks for all your comments and input.
