I'm an erotic dancer...

Noel Clarke's latest effort, 4.3.2.1. has hit cinemas and if truth be told I was preparing myself to be let down by another gritty urban brit flick. Instead what is realised is that we can make glossy big budget feel action films in this country. 4.3.2.1. was co-directed with first timer Mark Davis whose efforts would convince you that he had been making movies of this scale for years.

The script does fall down in parts but it is visually such a glorious bubblegum explosion that any small foibles can be forgiven. It is a heist movie with no heist, the action taking place around four innocent girls who are whisked along in four separate stories with the stolen diamonds loosely linking them together. Shot out of sequence with an almost mind bending recap at the end of each 'part' by the time you get to the end you can't help feeling that more British directors, writers, distributors and studios would have the balls to green-light and create more films like this. Packed with smart jokes, great visual effects and guest appearances, Ben Drew, Eve and even Kevin Smith, you don't feel shortchanged. Let's hope others take notice of this effort.
