Original Alice...
With the imminent release of
Tim Burton's
new adaptation of Lewis Carroll's Alice's Adventure in Wonderland, the thick media air is filled with all things Alice. One of the most interesting nuggets of Aliceness is the BFI's rare copy of the first film adaptation of the 1865 novel. Released 37 years after the novel was written this was amazingly the longest film to be made in England in 1903 with a staggering 12 minutes run time. (Cameron take note) Only 8 minuets remains and has been lovingly restored by the brilliant boffins at the BFI.
Amazing stuff - who needs 3D?
Thanks to the
Lunatic Journal
